Exciting news for TMNT fans! The live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin movie is reportedly still in development at Paramount, with Walter Hamada, former DC Films president, producing. Tyler Burton Smith, writer of Boy Kills World, is penning the script. Recent reports from Deadline and Discussing Film appear to confirm that the film will be R-rated, aiming for a gritty take on the beloved graphic novel.

Kevin Eastman, TMNT co-creator, in a recent interview with comicbook.com, confirmed that he is consulting on the project, expressing enthusiasm but cautioning that the R-rating isn’t official until Paramount confirms. The studio’s recent merger with Skydance has prioritized projects like Top Gun, Star Trek, and TMNT, including a Mutant Mayhem sequel set for September 17, 2027.

While no official announcement has been made, mentions in Toy World Magazine (page 106) earlier this year and Eastman’s involvement signal progress. This marks the first live-action TMNT film since 2016’s Out of the Shadows. Fans are eager for a return to the gritty, iconic vibe of the 1990 classic. Hopefully, we get it. Stay tuned for more updates!
